Description
- We are looking to hire a seasoned and strategic leader to serve as the Head of Credit and Risk for our brand.
- The Head of Credit and Risk will oversee the finance company’s day-to-day operations, portfolio management, and compliance with regulatory requirements
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the credit management function and overseeing the underwriting / credit control of all loan files.
- Assist in the development of a new lending platform and assist in establishing and updating all lending policies & guidelines.
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
- Prepare reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
- Evaluate customer records and recommend payment plans based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity.
- Ensure complete loan applications, including credit analyses and summaries of loan requests, and submit to senior management for approval.
- Review individual or commercial customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection.
- Responsible for the administration and direction of the credit department.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting all files to the County Finance Credit Committee.
- Monitor performance of the loan portfolio and report to the Managing Director on a periodic basis.
- Member of the County Finance Management Team Committee contributing to the day to day running /strategy of the company.
- Member of the Asset and Liability Committee
- Assist in the recruitment of other staff members to the team and to the overall development of the Credit department in line with business needs.
- Responsible for the credit policies and its compliance with the applicable regulations and laws, credit risk, product and program management
- Ensure that the portfolio is appropriately Risk Rated and adequately reserved
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven track record of at least 3 years in executive leadership roles within the microfinance, finance, or banking sector.
- Strong knowledge of finance regulations, banking operations, and financial management.
- Excellent leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and drive innovation.
- Sound understanding of risk management principles.
- Proficiency in using banking software (BankOne) and Microsoft Office suite.
