Head of Finance at G4S

Purpose of the job

  • Responsible for providing leadership and direction for the achievement of financial objectives.
  • This will include ensuring the management of effective and efficient financial systems, procedures and reporting requirements that comply with Company, legal and international accounting standards; ensuring that financial processes meet the requirements of the business.

Job Description

Duties:

Maintain oversight of the financial processes and systems within the organisation

  • Responsibility for the Finance and Accounting functions within the Country in compliance with Company procedures, policies and local country legislation.
  • Oversee, review and develop administration systems and processes to ensure they effectively and efficiently support business objectives and that a cost effective, timely and accurate service is supplied to the business units within the Region.
  • Oversee capital investment appraisals within the Region; utilizing commercial acumen to evaluate investment proposals and potential acquisitions advising senior management on action to take.
  • Ensure cash management processes are tightly managed throughout the Region and that cash flow targets are set and achieved.
  • Ensure adequate cash flow controls are in place.

Staff development and structure

  • Take an active role in the development of the company finance organisation instigating corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure the finance function is appropriately structured and appropriately resourced to deliver the required level of effective, efficient and timeous service.
  • Ensure the adequacy of the financial departments manning levels at Head Office and branches.
  • To evaluate the performance levels of accounting staff in the Company and implement such measures as to ensure proper performance.

Management of financial reporting and budgeting

  • Oversee the timeous and accurate production of key monthly management information i.e., forecasts and analysis of monthly trading results
  • Evaluates and improves Company’s monthly financial reporting and management information reports.
  • Oversee and manage the Regional RACSE process, risk and insurance. And ensure that business risks are identified and addressed.
  • Ensure the annual financial budgets and forecasts are prepared and to review Company performance against budget on a monthly basis, highlighting and analyzing variances and actions required for the Managing Director
  • Prepare and timeously present financial reporting in line with Group guidelines, commercial and tax laws.

Management and oversight of Financial Compliance

  • Ensure that any projects with major financial funding implications are subject to an appropriate level of financial expertise, commercial acumen and business risk analysis.
  • Reviews, evaluates and recommends financial policies and procedures in the Company and implements approved enhancements to maximise control over Company’s finances.
  • To ensure adherence to company financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare the financial year-end and tax packages.
  • Prepare annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns for Company: VAT Returns, WHT, ITF Levy etc

Requirements:in

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Head of Finance in a service industry, with professional focus in Finance and knowledge of financial practices across the African continent. (or equivalent emerging markets).
  • A successful track record in the development and implementation of medium and long term commercially sound financial strategies across diverse markets in Africa (or equivalent emerging markets).
  • A formal 4 year qualification in finance and professional accreditation as a Chartered accountant or equivalent. In addition a commercial qualification such as an MBA would be desirable. 5 years post qualification experience.
