The management of the National Assembly has shut down the House of Representatives Complex for a routine fumigation exercise.
During the two-day exercise, staffs of the house are expected to stay away from the complex. They’ve been directed to resume normal duties on Monday, June 22, but it is still not clear if scheduled House committee functions will go ahead or not. It is also not known if the exercise has anything to do with COVID-19 pandemic.
A circular referenced NASS/HR/MSD/ClR/003/IV138 and signed by Titus Jatau, a Deputy Director of the management read; “Approval has been granted for the 2nd quarter fumigation exercise to be carried out tomorrow Thursday, 18th and Friday. 19th June 2020. In light of the above, all staff are requested to stay away during this period of the exercise and to resume work on Monday, 22nd June 2020.”
