House of Reps commences annual recess, adjourns until September

The House of Representatives officially started its annual recess, announcing the adjournment of plenary sessions until September.

The announcement of the recess was made on Thursday, by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas following the formation of the House Standing Committees.

Speaker Abbas constituted a total of 134 committees for the 10th House.

Ado Doguwa, the former Leader of the House who stepped down for Abbas, has been appointed as the chairman of the Committee on Petroleum (Upstream).

Meanwhile, Ahmed Idris Wase, the former Deputy Speaker, will serve as the chairman of the Federal Character Committee.

Babajimi Benson retains his position as the head of the Committee on Defence, and James Faleke remains the chairman of the Finance Committee.
