A lot of people want to be rich and famous – so wealthy that they get recognized as the top of the tops. Big dream, yeah? But sadly, only a few, however, achieve that status as they tend to do a lot of things different from the average person.
For countless number of people that want to know how to become rich and wealthy, here are five signs you should beware of if you really want to be rich or wealthy.
#1. You always put the blame on others
There are some people that no matter what happens to them and how badly they have acted, they NEVER accept responsibility for their actions and take corrective steps to make things right. This permeates into other aspects of their lives and especially cripples their finances.
They have money problems or want to be rich but aren’t and still would never accept the fact that they are to blame for their circumstances or predicaments. Instead, they blame either the government, their background, family, a “major setback”, the society, the country and everything that gives them the liberty that comes with steering the blame clear of themselves.
If you’re broke, don’t kick your feet into the air and blame anyone. Own up to your mistakes and make it your purpose to keep learning and rising no matter how many times you fall, and not point fingers when you should use that time to work instead.
#2. Money is evil
You keep seeing money as evil, you will NEVER be wealthy – Period!
“But, hey! The holy book says that the love of money is the root of all evil”. That’s it, ‘the love!’ Not money itself.
Love can make you do crazy things for someone or something you want to get, yes. But it is what you do to become wealthy that makes you evil or not. Therefore, the most important thing here is to build healthy principles that influence every decision you take as a business person and stick to it.
But seeing money as evil will subconsciously make you avoid great opportunities that would have earned you real money. That’s the power of your beliefs.
#3. You’re scared to fail
No matter how smart or hardworking you are, if you fear failure, it will destroy you. Fear is normal, yes. But it’s what you do irrespective of your fear that really matters.
So, instead of beating yourself up on how you’re going to be crushed by your circumstances, why don’t you build your desire and grit with a simple method of auto-suggestion. Saying something positive to yourself over and over again until you start to believe it.
Unless you can crush fear, you will never be able to crush your failures.
#4. You live above your means
I don’t care how much money you make. If you don’t set some money apart as savings or for investments, you will NEVER be wealthy. I marvel at a lot of people who go the lengths of buying clothes with their last cash and still wonder why they are in the financial mess that they are in.
What you should do from today henceforth;
- Get your mind right. You will be rich only if you believe you will be.
- Get a source of income and live below your means even if it is humble, no problem, what’s the rush?
- Use your spare time to learn about money and start taking action.
- When you begin to make more money, don’t “upgrade,” NEVER!
- Save a portion of all you make no matter how little.
- Invest a portion of all you make and don’t stop learning.
These right here are great steps to becoming wealthy and maintaining your wealth.
#5. You hang out with financially dumb people
You are an average of 5 people you hang out with. If your friends don’t inspire you to work, chase your dreams or think, you need a change of circle now!
A big reason why you want to prioritize this is that people’s mindsets are shaped predominantly by what they hear, start to believe and then tell themselves. You hear, “this country hard o” and it becomes your reality. You hear, “all these rich people sef. So, to make money you gas do bad thing?” and that’s how you see acquiring riches.
Surround yourself with people who are going where you want to go. Surround yourself ultimately with people that have already been there. That’s how you grow.
