Human Resources Officer at Emergency Response Africa (ERA)

Summary:

  • Emergency Response Africa is seeking to hire a Human Resources Officer who will be responsible for managing and providing support in all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, training and development, and compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • This role involves working closely with employees and management to create a positive work environment that promotes the preservation of the company’s values and enhances the culture of ownership.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, and selection of candidates.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure a seamless onboarding process.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns regarding HR-related matters.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and mediate disputes between employees, if necessary.
  • Address employee concerns, grievances, and conduct investigations when necessary.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and resolve conflicts.

Performance Management:

  • Administer the performance appraisal process and provide guidance to managers on performance feedback and goal setting.

Policy Implementation and Compliance:

  • Update and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and organizational needs.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures as needed.
  • Stay updated on relevant labor laws and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Benefits and Compensation Administration:

  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Support in the management of salary and compensation structures.

Culture, Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs within the organization and coordinate training programs, team bonding activities, leadership development and values training
  • Implement reward systems for good performance, promote peer knowledge sessions
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, attendance, and performance evaluations.
  • Generate HR reports and metrics as required by management.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and files.

HR Projects and Initiatives:

  • Participate in HR projects, such as policy revisions, HR system implementation, and organizational development initiatives.

HR Technology and Systems:

  • Utilize HR software and systems for tasks like payroll processing, time tracking, and employee self-service.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2-3 years of experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in HR Software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Certifications

  • CIPM HR certification or any other HR certification (added advantage)
