Import/Export Documentation Officer at DRYVA Logistics

Responsibilities

  • Obtain accurate Check List and check all documents to avoid errors, identify missing documents, and/or identify potential issues.
  • Opening of form M / LC Application to import, and NXP for export.
  • Handle timely order execution & documentation like Pre & Post shipment documents.
  • Process and examine required shipping documents as per rules and regulations in line with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines.
  • Liaise with suppliers/vendor to ensure submission of correct pro-forma invoice suitable for establishing form M and LC in line with import guidelines and regulations.
  • Ensure draft copies of documents are in line with established approved Purchasing Order (PO).
  • Verify that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for delivery against documents.
  • Collect and submit foreign exchange control documents (FECD).
  • Process import documentation and processing of permit such as SON, import permit, SON product certificate, SONCAP, NESREA permit, NAFDAC import permit
  • Classify goods to tariff coding system and calculating import duty and tax payable in advance.
  • Ensure that all documents called for by authorities are submitted promptly to ensure speedy clearance of goods and orders are correctly recorded in the customs and company’s systems
  • Liaise with Port authorities & customs officials, monitoring compliance to regulatory requirements, and maintaining requisite papers & documents.
  • Exhibit a strong professional knowledge of Airwaybills and Bill of Ladings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all import and export activities, including shipment details, documentation, and compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed, and that all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to documentation or shipments, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a satisfactory resolution
  • Prepare daily progress report and send to Head Office before the close of the business.
  • Any other assignment that may be given from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of any discipline with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management in General.
  • Proficiency in international documentation for imports / exports, LC, Shipping processes, bill of lading.
  • Must have very strong  knowledge of the customs and Excise HS Code and Explanatory notes.
  • The candidate should be very conversant with customs tariff act, clearing and forwarding procedures, and clearance of goods at Airports and Seaports.
  • Good communication skills – oral and written.
  • Relationship Management.
  • Must have appropriate knowledge of inspection agents, Banks, shipping companies, and Terminals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word)
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
