INEC allows Political Campaigns to continue

Following the disagreement of various political parties especially the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party independently demanding that they would continue campaign before the rescheduled elections occur, the Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the resumption of political campaigns.

This was revealed in an announcement by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the commission’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye.

As indicated by the announcement, INEC picked to revive the campaigns after several counsels with political parties.

The campaigns are required to end “by midnight of Thursday, 21st February 2019”.

This comes a little more than 48 hours after the commission told political parties that campaigns would stay shut in spite of the delay of the general races.
