IPOB denies plans to attack Lagos

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied claims that its members are planning to attack Lagos State.

On Monday, May 10, the Lagos state police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu at a security meeting with the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the command has received intelligence that some members of the secessionist group were planning to attack the state as some of the members have done in some states in the South-South and South-East regions.

Reacting to the claim,  IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, urged the public to disregard the allegation and accused the state Commissioner of Police of plotting to create disharmony between Ndígbo and Yorubas.

Powerful’s statement in part reads “The public is hereby notified that the allegations that IPOB is plotting to attack Lagos is a lie. Lagos State CP, Hakeem Odumosu who made the allegation is a former CSO to Tinubu and their intention is to fuel division between Yorubas & Biafrans. It won’t work. This is not 1967,”
