JAMB announces a new deadline for DE registration, releases guidelines

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has reopened registration for the 2023 Direct entry registration.

According to JAMB, the new registration period will begin on March 20th, 2023, and end on April 28th, 2023.

The registration was set to expire on February 20, 2023, however, the board stated that it had suspended registration because it had learned of methods and devices used to undermine and subvert the standard of A’ level credentials demanded of DE candidates.

The JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

A statement by Oloyede reads partly: “Recall that recent joint operations of the Federal Ministry of Education and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on DE qualifications brought to light some of these unsavory and nefarious activities. Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has also consistently brought to the fore the high rate of forgery of A’Level qualifications for DE.”

He said some candidates forged their A’ level certificates to register for DE and eventually got admitted.

Oloyede said out of 148 candidates verified by BUK, only 6 were found to be genuine.

The JAMB boss said the board is working to identify candidates who engaged in such activities, adding that those identified are being dealt with.

Oloyode said the 2023 DE registration will only be restricted to JAMB PTCs and will also be done under strict supervision.

Commenting on the guidelines for the registration, the JAMB boss said all candidates must fill in the registration/matriculation number of the previous school attended, subjects of qualifications, awarding institution and institution attended.

The JAMB boss declared that only candidates with NABTEB GCE A’ Level from 2015 to 2021 would be given DE admission.
