As part of efforts to rid garages, parks and roadsides in Lagos of illegal liquor sales and consumption by motorists and drivers, the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has seized alcohol worth about N2 million during a clampdown exercise carried out recently by its operatives.

Corps Marshal of the Agency, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (retd) disclosed that the exercise will be continuous due to the concern of the State Government on the alarming rate liquor drinks are being sold in garages, motor parks, roadsides and in traffic.

Akinpelu further revealed that the negative trend poses grave danger to the psychological, mental and general well-being of drivers, motorists and pedestrians alike.

She emphasised that the confiscated liquor drinks will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for destruction, adding that LAGSEC is determined to stem the tide of the illegal and unlawful sale of alcohol across the State’s motor parks.

Akinpelu also read the riot act to street traders to desist from displaying liquor drinks for sale in garages, motor parks, roadsides and in traffic, warning that the Agency will not relent in its drive to rid the State of all environmental nuisances.
