Lagos announces traffic diversion for Marine bridge repairs

The Lagos State Government has initiated a traffic diversion plan on the vital Marine Bridge, marking a crucial phase in the ongoing repair efforts led by the Federal Ministry of Works.

The bridge, a critical link between Ijora and Ajegunle in the Apapa area, will undergo maintenance until Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, released a statement on Friday detailing the implementation of the diversion.

During this period, motorists are urged to utilize alternative routes. Specifically, drivers are advised to take the Marine Bridge Access Road to Area B, where they can make a U-turn at Point Junction Road, continuing their journeys seamlessly.

For those heading to Mobil Road from Ijora/Apapa Road, the diversion will direct them to Ijora, linking Total Access Ramp towards Malu Road, eventually connecting to Mobil Road for their intended destinations.

Similarly, motorists en route to Ijora/Apapa will be guided to the Apapa bound ramp of the Marine Bridge, where a U-turn at Point Road Junction will grant access to their desired destinations.

Acknowledging the potential inconvenience, Osiyemi requested motorists’ patience and assured them that traffic officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be deployed to efficiently manage traffic flow and minimize disruptions.
