Lagos Blue Line Rail set to commence operations September 4

The Lagos State Government has declared that the Blue Line Rail service will officially commence commercial operations on Monday, September 4, 2023.

Running from Marina to Mile 2, the Blue Line Rail aims to enhance transportation within Lagos.

During a statement at the Blue Rail Line Terminal in Marina on Tuesday, Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, the Managing Director of the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, revealed that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is slated to be the inaugural passenger.

The Governor’s inaugural ride is scheduled for 9am at the Marina station on Monday.

Akinajo further conveyed that starting from Tuesday, September 5, partial passenger services will operate during peak hours: 6:30am to 10am for the morning peak, and 4pm to 9:30pm for the evening peak.

Akinajo clarified that these services will launch with 12 trips daily for a period of two weeks, with plans to subsequently increase the number to 76 trips per day.
