… Seals Two More Supermarkets For Sales of Expired Products

In a bid to rid the state of expired, unwholesome and substandard products, Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has stepped up its enforcement activities with the sealing of two supermarkets, Green Basket and TobbyEd, located at 35 and 40, Fola Agoro Street in Shomolu Area, Lagos for contravening consumer rights law.

Speaking on the exercise, the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo Esq. said the two supermarkets were sealed for selling expired products such as Tomi Apple Drinks, Nutriben Cereals, SMA Gold and Quick Oats amongst others.

He explained that the Monitoring and Enforcement team of the Agency, in the course of its inspection of the supermarkets, discovered that some of the products had expired since January 2023, yet were being still displayed for sale to unsuspecting consumers in violation of the Consumers’ Rights Protection Law of the Lagos State.

Solebo, therefore, urged members of the public to contact LASCOPA about any Supermarket found selling expired or hazardous products to unsuspecting members of the public across the State by visiting the Agency’s Head office located at 2b, Soji Adepegba Close, Off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, or any of its Annex offices at Badagry Local Government Secretariat, Bariga LCDA Secretariat, Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA Secretariat and Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat.

He also implored concerned members of the public to call 08092509777, 08124993895, 09064323154 or send Emails to lascopa@lagosstate.gov.ng or lascopa@gmail.com to report any individual or company that infringes on their rights.
