Lagos denies ban on passenger vehicles from North

The Lagos State Government has debunked the allegation that it has placed a ban on passenger vehicles from Northern states.

The allegations were made by the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, in a statement released by General Secretary Yusuf Adeniyi.

According to Adeniyi, the union received information that the state government had stopped its operations and called for a reversal of the decision.

Meanwhile, at a news conference on Monday, Sulaimon Raji, the chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators, refuted the alleged restriction.

Raji described the claim as obnoxious, abhorrent, appalling, and disdainful propaganda.

He said being a centre of excellence and the fifth-largest economy in Africa, Lagos is an all-around ethnic accommodation of all regions.

“We despise any act or show of ethnocentrism in our dealings as we believe that for any organisation or association to thrive, it depends solely on its oneness,” he said.

Raji advised the RTEAN to desist from displaying a “colossal show of shame” over a matter already in the court and allow the judicial process to take its course.
