Lagos govt advises workers on service delivery

The Lagos State Government has advised public servants in the state on the need to be committed to excellent service delivery in order to be relevant.

According to a statement on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Establishments, Training, and Pensions, Mrs Ajibola Ponnle, gave this advice, while addressing senior officers at a training programme in Gbagada.

She said, “Officers must change their approach to the way they do things in service and those who add more to the system would have more opportunities of being rewarded. People with expert knowledge are always indispensable and I urge participants to aspire to become indispensable in their offices.

“In spite of the orientation on a growth mindset, nothing appeared to have changed in the service and for the country to make progress, we need to do whatever we can at our different levels to change the story because every little thing you do as officers in your offices goes a long way.”

Ponnle added that the purpose of the training was to create an opportunity for officers to learn.

“The overall objective of the training programme of the state government is to create access to learning as well as provide an opportunity to practise what they learnt. It is the responsibility of officers to leave the service better than the way they met it and we need to serve the people around us in a diligent manner,” she said.
