The Lagos State Government has taken decisive action by sealing off the Alaba International Market due to a multitude of environmental violations, including poor waste disposal practices and failure to pay waste bills.

The Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, made this announcement on the social media platform, X, on Monday.

The closure was a result of the market’s persistent non-compliance with environmental sanitation regulations and obligations related to waste management.

In his statement on X, Wahab emphasized the necessity of adhering to these vital environmental standards.

“Alaba International Market, Ojo has been sealed up for poor waste disposal practices, failure to pay their waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences,” he wrote on X.
