Lagos moves to reclaim disputed property

In a bid to reclaim state property under dispute and update its database, the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency has embarked on a property identification exercise in the Ita Alagba area of Lagos Island.

The General Manager, of LASURA, Ajibike Shomade, said the exercise was also to “ascertain the present structural condition, occupancy status and the spread of the properties.”

Speaking during the property identification tour, Shomade stressed that the agency was also working towards ensuring that the database of the state property under the oversight of the agency was updated.

“Shomade also called on the present occupants (of state property) to ensure the renewal of the lease to avoid being evicted.

“While enjoining well-meaning Lagosians to provide helpful information that would aid the agency in reclaiming some of the properties in dispute, the General Manager also solicited support and cooperation of members of staff in clamping down on illegal occupants to fulfill one of the integral parts of its mandate,” a statement said on Monday.
