The Lagos State Government, on Monday, ordered the contractor handling the Lagos Revenue House, formerly known as Elephant House, to expedite action on the project.
The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure, Dr Adekunle Olayinka, who issued the order, expressed displeasure at the slow pace of work.
According to a statement, Olayinka noted that the building located on Assbifi Road, Agidingbin, Ikeja “is an important project conceived by the state government to accommodate some important parastatals of the state within the secretariat vicinity.”
The building comprises four wings of seven floors and another wing of eight floors.
Olayinka, who was accompanied by top officials of the ministry led by the Permanent Secretary, Adebayo Odusanya, said the visitation was to assess the ongoing project towards ensuring its timely completion.
He said, “There is an urgent need for the contractors to accelerate the delivery of the project, not only to provide enough office space for essential government agencies but also to avoid variation in the completion costs of the project,” he said.
The Special Adviser had earlier visited the ongoing reconstruction of Ile-Pako, “a strategic office infrastructure project by the main entrance into the state government secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, which was previously occupied by staff of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education.”
