Lagos organises free medical screening for residents

The  Alimisho General hospital in Lagos has organised a one-day free health screening, consultations and counselling for the residents of the state.

The wife of the Lagos State Governor,  Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, said the current administration desired for the residents to remain healthy so as to be able to contribute to the growth and development of the state.

She affirmed that Governor Sanwo-Olu had plans for the health sector in his T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda.

Also speaking at the event, the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Alimosho General Hospital, Dr Ayodapo Soyinka, said periodic medical outreach and mission were part of the policy direction of the hospital, which had been taken to different communities in the past

He described the free medical screening as a more holistic and comprehensive medical mission intervention that covered larger areas of medical needs, including giving referrals to some patients, whose needs could not be attended to.

Soyinka said the timing for the medical mission was deliberate as it supported the current administration’s agenda and would continue to put the health of Lagosians at the forefront.

He said, “We are very happy that much concentration is given to us in this hospital and this free health mission is a way of showing our appreciation to the governor that we value his kind of leadership and we identify with him at this period.”

One of the beneficiaries of the free health screening, Mr Oyedele  Adebayo, commended the management of the hospital for the timely initiative in view of the critical economic situation of the country.

He, however, appealed to the hospital management to make the outreach a continuous exercise to meet the health needs of the residents of Alimosho.
