Lagos receives COVID-19 vaccines

Lagos State Government has received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.

Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on Tuesday at the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The doses are part of the about 4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine shipped via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO, into Nigeria on MArch 2.

The governor stated that the state government received the vaccines at 4 a.m. on Tuesday (today).

He assured residents that the vaccines were kept in a safe place.

Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to continue to observe COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of facemasks, washing of hands and observing social distancing.

Announcing the arrival of the vaccines, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Gboyega Akosile said, “We’re making progress. The world will see the end of the pandemic. Good morning Lagos.”
