LASPA warns against illegal park operators in Lagos

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has issued a stern warning to illegal car park operators in the state.

In a statement on Monday, the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, announced that the state government will no longer tolerate unauthorized individuals soliciting parking fees and urged the public to report such persons.

Adelabu emphasized that unauthorized parking facilities and unapproved road sections for parking endanger public safety and hinder the state’s traffic management efforts.

“Operating or using unregulated car parks poses significant risks to vehicle owners and pedestrians.

“ Such facilities often lack oversight and safety measures, making them prone to security breaches and accidents,” she said.

On the impact of uncoordinated parking on traffic flow, Adelabu noted that converting unapproved road sections into makeshift parking areas was illegal.

She added that it disrupts traffic patterns, lead to congestion and increase accident risks.

Adelabu reiterated LASPA’s commitment to enforcing parking regulations rigorously and promoting good parking culture.

“Our priority is to safeguard public safety and ensure strict compliance with the Lagos State Parking Policy.

“Residents and visitors should use only approved parking facilities displaying clear regulatory signage. Suspicious or illegal parking operations should be promptly reported to LASPA for immediate action.

“For more information or to report parking-related issues, please contact LASPA at 0201227523002012275231 or visit our website [www.laspa.lg.gov.ng],” she said.
