LASTMA warns motorists against parking on lay-bys

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a stern warning to motorists, cautioning against parking on lay-bys in the Dopemu and Oshodi areas of Lagos State.

The advisory, disclosed in a document signed by Zonal Commander Akeem Adeoshun and the Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq, emphasizes the importance of using designated bus stops.

The document specifies approved bus stops, including Dopemu, Cement, Mongoro, Ajayi Farm, Ikeja, Airport, PWD, Shogunle, Ladipo, and Bolade.

Conversely, it highlights prohibited areas for parking, such as Pako, Dopemu under the bridge, in front of the tower, National, Olori, Alasia, and Arena.

In addition to the warning on unauthorized parking, LASTMA urged motorists to adhere to safety measures while driving.

These include avoiding overloading vehicles with passengers, refraining from reversing on the highway, abstaining from driving on one-way routes and BRT lanes, and complying with seat belt usage.

The advisory also emphasizes not stopping, paying, picking up, or dropping passengers at illegal bus stops.

Commuters are reminded to comply with the Lagos State Traffic Reform Law 2018 (as amended) for a safer and more organized traffic environment.
