Lekki residents urge Sanwo-Olu to address severe flooding amid death, rising waters

Residents of Jakande Housing Estate in Lekki, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, have called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to save them from imminent death due to incessant floods in the area.

DAILY POST gathered that a resident of the estate simply called Mr Shakiru died recently while clearing blocked gutters, following a recent flooding incident.

The residents expressed fear over the impact of floods in the area as the rainy season approaches its peak. According to them, the area usually experience flooding every year during the rainy season.

But they said this year’s flooding, so far, is beyond their imagination as the rainy season had just started.

One of the residents, Alhaja Fausat Olawale, called on the governor to save the people from untimely death.

“We cannot sleep with our two eyes closed whenever there is rain at night. We call on our amiable governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu to come to our aid and save us from imminent death.”

Another resident, Taofeek Ibrahim expressed sadness over the incident that claimed the life of one their members.

Ibrahim appealed to Sanwo-Olu and the chairman of Eti-Osa local government to find lasting to the perennial flooding.

“This is what we experience on yearly basis but this year’s own is beyond our control, this is June, we have lost one of our own in his bid to clear the drain, what will happen to us in July, during rainy season proper?

“We are appealing to the state Governor and the Chairman, Eti-Osa local government to save us from untimely death and destruction of our properties,” he said.
