Lekki toll resumption: Police warn against violent protests in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command has issued a stern warning against violent protests at the Lekki-Ikoyi toll gate and other areas.

Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin gave this warning in a statement Thursday night.

Hundeyin cautioned against actions that could disrupt peace.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi assured that measures were in place to ensure the safety of lives and property.

The command said activities capable of grounding commercial activities and obstructing free flow of traffic would not be tolerated.

Noting that the police are not averse to the people’s right to freedom of assembly, the police said nobody will be allowed to violate the rights of others.

Alabi told intending protesters that anyone found infringing on the free will of Nigerians will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The CP further advised residents to go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment or intimidation.
