Liberian President George Weah chased away from his office by snakes

The Liberian President, and former world and African best footballer of the year, George Weah has been forced out of his office by two black snakes.

BBC reported the news with Mr Smith Toby saying that in the foreign affairs ministry building – Weah’s official place of work, two black snakes were found.

As a result of the happenings, all staff have been instructed to stay clear of the building until the 22nd of April.

Mr Tobi said, “It’s just to make sure that crawling and creeping things get fumigated from the building.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts the office of the president, so it did an internal memo asking the staff to stay home while they do the fumigation.”

The president’s office has been in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a result of the fire that gutted the nearby presidential mansion in 2006.

The workers present tried to kill the snakes but all efforts proved abortive as they didn’t succeed. Mr Tobi said, “The snakes were never killed, there was a little hole somewhere through which they made their way back.”

You could recall that a similar situation happened in Nigeria when President Muhammadu Buhari went outside the country on medical ground.

Following the three months period where he was outside the country, it was impossible for him to operate from the office as a result of the terrible condition as rodents caused a whole lot of damage to the furniture in his office.

With that said, vehicles and escorts jeeps were parked outside Mr Weah’s residence in Monrovia – the capital city – as presidential securities and the police stood their guard.

The area has begun to be fumigated by the ministry of foreign affairs, according to Mr Toby.

“That building has been there for years now, and because of the drainage system, the possibility of having things like snakes crawling in that building was high”.

Mr Tobi also added that the president would definitely return to his office on Monday after fumigation is completed and whether or not the snakes are found and killed.
