Low turn-out of Workers in Osun, after Christmas celebration

The secretariat in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Friday, December 27, witnessed low turn-out of workers after the two-day public holiday declared for Christmas and Boxing Day.

Recall that the federal government had earlier declared Wednesday, December 25 and Thursday, 26 as public holidays to celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day.

However, many workers in Osun state refused to resume work the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

It was gathered that only a few workers reported at work after the two-day public holiday as expected with many of the offices not opened.

One of the few workers who resumed on Friday told NAN that most workers usually travel to their home towns for the celebration and would usually extend the holiday.

The civil servant who spoke on the ground of anonymity said he too would have stayed back at home if not that he was on essential duty.

He also explained that many also did not resume work since it is already just a day to the weekend. Some federal establishments in the state also reportedly witnessed a low turnout as only a few workers were at their duty posts.
