Man hospitalised after beating from wife

Edwin Ugwu, 56, told an Ogba magistrate court in Lagos how his wife, Ebere, used to beat him up at the least provocation.
The beleaguered husband said that the continual assault reached a climax lately when his wife beat him into a coma and he was transported to the hospital.

The prosecution, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the couple lived on Lambe Iluyomade Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos State, and that they had a disagreement that turned into a violent altercation before the wife attacked her husband, resulting in his hospitalisation.

The wife pleaded not guilty to the two-count assault and battery accusation, and the prosecutor asked the court to set a hearing date.

Mrs. E. Kubenije, the Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the same quantity and adjourned the matter to June 6.
