Manchester United players to take 25 % pay cut next season

Manchester United players are set to take a pay cut up to 25 per cent in their salary starting from next season after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

According to Sky Sports News, United have a policy that reward the players with a bonus if they finish in the top four, though the exact proportion of the salary varies depending on the exact terms of each player’s contract.

But after a disappointing draw 1-1 against Huddersfield on Saturday, United won’t be going to the Champions League, which means they are not entitled to any bonus.

Though this policy does not apply to every member of United’s squad because some older contracts did not include the clause. Furthermore, some players have individual bonus schemes that were negotiated on the basis of other criteria still it is being reported that most of United’s 25-man Premier League squad will be affected
