NCG Supervisor at DHL

Job Purpose

The job holder support the NCG Manager to control, monitor and optimise the DHL Network and Commercial Air transport servicing the Lagos Hub to ensure that service, volume, cost, and local aviation regulatory requirements are maintained on a day-to-day basis.

The job holder supports the NCG Manager to provide central management and co-ordination for the total transport network at the Lagos Hub and to ensure the implementation of contingency plans in the event of flight delays or cancelations to mitigate service failure.

Key Accountability:

  • Support the NCG Manager in managing and orchestrating all air network operations in accordance to published schedules, ensuring that all available transport resources are used efficiently to achieve the best possible service levels.
  • Coordinate and distribute accurate/timely information to all Hub and Country related parties to provide solutions that comply primarily with service delivery and collection criteria of all DHL products.
  • Maintain outbound movement schedule and ensure that the most cost-effective and efficient movements are used on a daily basis.
  • Co-ordinate with the NCG Manager and Hub Operations Manager on contingencies for cancelled or delayed movements to minimise service impact.
  • To follow up on commercial airline incidences such as missing bags, missing cargo, flight delays, off-loads and short-landings on a daily basis ensuring minimum response times from airlines.
  • To compile and distribute daily NCG reports and overview of the previous 24 hours operation.
  • Support commercial airline related tasks such as bookings, scheduling in CALMS.
  • To support in managing inter-departmental operational relationships at the Lagos Hub as a well as building and maintaining relationships with the Country Gateway and Customer Service Teams respectively.
  • Lead the Operations Support function in the NCG Department to ensure that network requests, track and trace and shipment incidents are treated with dispatch and within the prescribed timelines.
  • Influence, support, delegate and motivate NCG staff to gain confidence and achieve acceptance for the departmental initiatives.
  • Liaising and communicating with other departments at the Lagos Hub to ensure the efficient communication of information about movement delays or changes.
  • To ensure full compliance to Global SOP associated with the NCG department

Requirement

  • B.Sc in any discipline

Experience

  • At least 5 years minimum experience within a Network Control Group environment
  • Ramp and Sort departmental experience may be an advantage.
