The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) is set to partner with the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department, United States of America.

The General Manager of the Agency, Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan disclosed during a courtesy visit to the Agency by a Nigerian-born Senior Officer of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, Mr. Akintunde Akinrotimi.

Prince Oyekan expressed delight at the idea of a partnership with one of the world’s foremost Police departments, saying the aim of the Agency is to maintain the best global practice in its service delivery.

Ifalade said, “The vision of Mr. Governor for Lagos is clear in all sectors across State and we can not fail in our effort to make Lagos safer and secure for every resident and visitor”.

The General Manager said the Agency is also interested in an exchange programme with the DC Police Department that will enable its operatives to interact physically and virtually with their counterparts across the world in an arrangement that will be mutually beneficial to participants.

Earlier, the Nigeria-born DC Police Officer, Mr. Akintunde Akinrotimi said LNSA has created a new and enviable pathway in community policing in Nigeria if not Africa. He expressed surprise at the level of technology and know-how deployed by the Agency in its operations.

He commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for keeping up with the vision of a Greater Lagos as enshrined in the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda, especially with the level attained by the Safety and Security agencies in the State, rating the operations of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency very high.

Commending the General Manager of LNSA for translating the vision of the Governor into a reality that can be copied by other states in the country and beyond, Akinrotimi averred that a working relationship between the Agency and the Met Police will be highly beneficial to both parties and hope it will come to fruition.

Further discussion is expected to continue between the representatives of the two security departments pending the approval of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
