The Niger Republic Minister of Vocational Training, Kassoum Mamane Moctar, on Tuesday, said his country is impressed, with the laudable programmes and policies initiated by the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration on youth development.
The Minister said ”the strides achieved in that sector made the Government in the Niger Republic dispatch a delegation to Kano on a study tour of its skills acquisition programmes for youths.
Moctar made the remark on Tuesday when he paid a visit to Governor Ganduje at the Kano Government House.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Hassan Musa Fagge, said the Minister added that the youths empowerment initiative of the Kano State Government is worthy of emulation because of its impact on the lives of Kano people.
Responding, Ganduje, represented by his Deputy, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, said realising that the youths are the backbone of development informed the decision of the State Government to give them priority in its programmes.
“Empowering the youths is very essential to us because it prevents them from idleness, drug abuse and committing crimes,” he said.
While assuring the delegation from the Niger Republic of continued support and cooperation, the Governor, however, described their visit to the youth development facilities in the State as proof of the existing ties between Niger and Nigeria, particularly with Kano State.
