The immediate past Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Environment and Petroleum Resources, Mr Ekong Sampson, has described arguments over direct and indirect primaries as a misplacement of priority.
Samson said this at a media briefing in Uyo on Sunday. He said what the country requires at this point in its political history is disciplined political behaviour and strong institutions for democracy to thrive.
He noted, “Whichever model the players want, my take is that they must demonstrate discipline. Are they not the same players? “Unless there is sacrifice, discipline to uphold the tenets of democracy; not running after opportunities, shunning rigging and accepting the notion of mandate in its purest form, we are not making any headway.”
He commended Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration for diversifying the state economy and giving it a new sense of direction.
