Nigeria ‘ll experience more development under Tinubu – Senate

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has said that Nigeria would experience more development with the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President-elect.

In his opening remarks to the plenary on Wednesday, Lawan prayed for greater, better development and progress for the nation under Tinubu’s leadership.

Also, he prayed that the 10th Senate would give the President-elect the kind of assistance that the nation would require.

Lawan said, “Let me invite distinguished senators, particularly the All Progressives Congress senators to attend, if possible, the ceremony for the issuance of Certificate-of-Returns to our President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu at 3 pm at the International Conference Centre.”

InsideOjodu recalls that INEC in the early hours of Wednesday declared the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect of the 2023 elections.

Tinubu, who was a former governor of Lagos State, got a total vote of 8, 794, 726 to defeat his major rivals; Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 6, 984, 520 votes, and Peter Obi of Labour Party who secured 6,101,533 votes of the 24, 965, 218 total vote cast.

Also, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party came a distant fourth with 1,496,687 votes.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu declared Tinubu winner stating, “Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scoring the highest votes is hereby declared winner and elected.”

Lawan however, prayed that “this country will see more and better development and progress and will we also pray that the 10th senate will provide the kind of support that the president-elect will need for the betterment of our country.”
