Ogun State Government prosecutes four policemen

The Ogun State Government has announced the prosecution of four cops allegedly involved in extrajudicial killings in the state.

The policemen included Inspector Wasiu Lawal, Inspector Niyi Ogunsoro, Inspector Ahmed Mohammed and one Okoi Obi.

The state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Akingbolahan Adeniran, in a statement, urged members of the public to attend the proceedings.

Giving a breakdown of the cases, he said, “The State v. Inspector Wasiu Lawal — murder trial coming up for hearing on 10 November 2020 at the Ipokia division of the High Court of Ogun State. The State v. Okoi Obi — manslaughter trial for hearing on December 2, 2020, at the Ijebu-Ode division of the High Court of Ogun State. The State v. Inspector Niyi Ogunsoro — murder trial at the Abeokuta division of the High Court of Ogun State. The date of the hearing will be communicated. The State v. Inspector Ahmed Mohammed — murder charge ready to be filed at the Ilaro division of the High Court of Ogun State. Date of hearing to be communicated after filing. Additional cases will be added as soon as charges to be filed against defendants are concluded.”
