The Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has renovated Ojodu Primary School in Lagos State with the donation 240 desks and chairs to the block of six classrooms handed over to the school.

Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Olumuyiwa Oloro, in his speech at the inauguration of the school, described education as the best legacy to bequeath to the society, adding that the pupils stand a chance to be great persons if their foundation is solid.

“The foundation for every great scholar in the world today is based on his exposure, life experience and quality of basic education. According to Mahatma Ghandi, basic education is compulsory for the development of the human mind,” Oloro said.

He said the council was keying into the federal and state governments’ policy on the National Mass Literacy Agenda by making education accessible to the grassroots.

According to the council chairman, “Our goal is to develop in Ojodu children the ability to use literacy and numeracy to enhance their lives through knowledge and understanding of their social and physical environment. Creating an enabling learning environment is germane towards the improvement of human capital development by catching them young. This invariably develops the right attitude and commitment towards participation in nation building, starting from the grassroots.”

Meanwhile, teachers and parents are excited that the pupils can now learn in a conducive environment.

It was gathered that many people in the neighbourhood thronged the school to register their children and wards.
