Okonjo-Iweala reacts to Katsina abduction, says attack a recurring nightmare

Former minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has reacted to the abduction of over 300 students from the Government Science Secondary school, Kankara in Katsina State.

Describing the attack, the former Minister said it is a recurring nightmare that needs the  government urgent attention.

Recall that several hundreds of school children were abducted on Friday night by armed gunmen.

But, it also reported that Boko Haram on Tuesday, claimed responsibility for the kidnap, stating that the boys were abducted to discourage western education and promote Islam.

Reacting, Okonjo-Iweala urged the authorities to do all possible to rescue the boys.

She, however, warned that those using Nigerian children as ‘pawn’ must be held accountable.

Okonjo-Iweala on her Twitter page wrote: “The abduction of more than 300 school boys in Katsina is heartbreaking. What a recurring nightmare.

“My heart goes out to the families of the missing boys. The authorities must do all possible to #BringBackOurBoys! Those using our children as pawns must be held accountable!”
