Olu of Warri not dead – Palace

The Royal Palace of Olu of Warri has denied the claim in some quarters that His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, has died.

While insisting on Tuesday that the monarch was alive, the Palace said the Olu of Warri “is indisposed and currently receiving medical attention by a team of qualified medical specialists.”

Addressing journalists at a press conference, the Director of Palace Administration in the Olu of Warri Palace, Chief Clement Maleghemi, expressed grave concern over the plethora of media reports earlier in the day insinuating that His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, had joined his ancestors.

The palace statement made available to journalists read in part, “The attention of the Palace of His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri has been drawn to news/social media speculations announcing the sudden demise of His Majesty. We wish to notify the general public that His Majesty is indisposed and currently receiving medical attention by a team of qualified medical specialists. Any further information on the subject would be made known to the general public by the office of the traditional Prime Minister of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami, the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom.”.
