Oluremi Tinubu retains Lagos Central senatorial seat

Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has emerged winner for her third term return for the seat of Lagos Central Senatorial District, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Oyeyemi Oyedola of the University of Lagos, announced the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Tinubu scored 131,735 against her major opponent Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Onitiri David who scored 89,107 votes.

In his announcement, “l, Professor Oyeyemi Elijah Oyedola, hereby certify that as the retuning officer, Lagos Central Senatorial District with the election held on 23 of February, 2019 that the election was contested among 14 candidates.

“I declare that Tinubu Oluremi Shade of the APC has satisfied the requirements of law and scoring the highest number of votes, hereby declared the winner and returned elected having polled 131,735 votes.”

While commending the effort of the security officials for their effort in ensuring free, fair and credible election, the INEC Electoral Officer in Lagos Island, Mr Sodiq Abubakar, noted that there was no causality recorded during the period of the election, urging the stakeholders to remain unsheaking.

The election was conducted in five local government areas namely; Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Surulere and Mainland.
