Ousted President Omar al-Bashir has been charged by Sudan’s public prosecutor has charged with incitement and involvement in the killing of protesters.
The charges has its roots from an investigation into the death of a medic murdered during protests that led to the termination of his reign sometime last month.
Mr Bashir’s fate, however, is not clear. He was reportedly apprehended just after being ousted.
He is also under an investigation over allegations of money laundering and terror financing.
Some Sudanese citizens will not believe that Mr Bashir is really in serious trouble for his alleged crimes until they see him in a court, the BBC’s Will Ross reports.
In December, protesters began demonstrating against their government’s decision to increase the price of bread by three-fold. The protests soon developed widespread anger against the president’s 30-year rule, led by doctors.
And five weeks into the protests, on 17 January, some witnesses said state forces fired live ammunition at protesters and killed a doctor.
