Ondo cancels cross over service in churches

Cross Over Vigil by churches in Ondo state has been cancelled by the state government as a proactive measure against the second wave of COVID-19.

Chairman, Ondo State Inter-ministerial Committee on Coronavirus and Vice-Chancellor, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Prof. Adesegun Fatusi made the announcement and also urged residents of the state to pay due attention and observance to the precautionary measures put in place to safeguard them.

Fatsui who said church services in the state must not exceed 10 pm until further notice, in line with federal government directive on curfew, said government and business offices would remain open but with strict compliance of COVID-19 precautionary measures.

Markets would also continue operations but with heightened enforcement of COVID-19 precautionary measures. Night clubs and relaxation spots are to continue their operation but must not exceed 10 pm. Residents of the state above 60 years of age or with existing ailments have been advised to remain indoor and disengage from joining any social gathering.

Fatsui said strict enforcement of the law that guides against the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in the state will start off in January 2021, and further revealed that the law stipulates three months imprisonment or payment of twenty thousand Naira fine or both for offenders.
