  • The Operations Clerk specializing in Sea Freight plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective handling of sea freight operations within our logistics company.
  • This position involves managing documentation, coordinating shipments, and overseeing cargo movement to facilitate the smooth transportation of goods via sea freight.

Job Description

Documentation Handling:

  • Prepare and process necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs documentation, and export/import documentation, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify accuracy of shipment details and ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and procedures.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate closely with various stakeholders, including carriers, shippers, consignees, and internal departments to ensure timely and efficient movement of cargo.
  • Communicate shipment status, updates, and any relevant information to customers and internal teams, providing exceptional customer service.

Booking and Scheduling:

  • Assist in booking cargo space, arranging shipments, and scheduling vessel departures and arrivals.
  • Monitor and track shipments, ensuring adherence to planned schedules and addressing any deviations or issues proactively.

Cargo Handling and Tracking:

  • Oversee cargo handling procedures, including loading and unloading of goods, ensuring proper handling and documentation throughout the process.
  • Track and monitor cargo movement, keeping accurate records of inventory, shipments, and cargo status.

Problem Resolution:

  • Identify and resolve operational issues, such as delays, discrepancies, or disruptions in the transportation process, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields.
  • At least 1 year of experience in sea freight operations, preferably within the logistics or shipping industry.
  • Proficiency in handling shipping documentation and knowledge of international trade regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of collaborating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in sea freight operations (e.g., freight management systems, Microsoft Office suite, etc.).
