RESPONSIBILITIES
- Retrieve information from shipping companies concerning the ETA of the vessels.
- Monitor that the payment processes for the shipment are complete and accurate.
- If applicable, confirm telex release or otherwise the original bill of lading.
- Maintain business relationships with shipping company representatives and terminal operators.
- Liaise and collaborate with the documentation department to facilitate a speedy capturing process.
- When required, request terminal charges from terminal owners (APMT, Port & Cargo, etc)
- Make necessary preparations for the customs examination of the shipment
- Consistently collaborate with the team in learning and understanding the kinds of cargo that may be applicable and the processes involved for timely clearance.
- Complete processes required with the customs office to initiate the shipment examination
- Collaborate with the team in ensuring the proper positioning of the containers.
- Maintain up-to-date information on the custom rates for different cargos.
- Other responsibilities as required by the business process.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of first degree from a recognized institution. (2’2)
- Masters’ degree is an additional advantage.
- Must be tech savvy (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PPT, V-look Up etc)
- Practical experience in all port activities, ranging from clearing, shipping, maritime and customs duties.
- Must be physically fit and be able to withstand pressure.
- Must be able to take initiative and can apply discretion
- Ability to work in a team and follow laid-down instructions
- Ability to take full responsibility for actions taken.
- Must be dedicated and open to learning new things.
- Impressive communication manners.
