Chaos unfolded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as an inferno broke out, prompting passengers and airline operators to evacuate the premises.
The incident occurred at approximately 0750 hours on Wednesday, with reports indicating that a smoke incident was detected at Terminal 1 of the airport, situated in Ikeja, Lagos.
Investigations revealed that the source of the smoke originated from the basement of the Terminal building.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), through its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, swiftly responded to the situation.
Firefighters from the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport acted promptly to bring the situation under control.
