Payable Accountant at TradeDepot

Job aim:

TradeDepot is seeking a highly motivated and versatile Payable Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and accounting for TradeDepot’s trading capital in Lagos. You will oversee the company’s KPIs related to Trading Capital payables and vendor reconciliation.

You will work closely with the Procurement team to ensure that prepayments are converted to stock in the shortest possible time and maintain a cash conversion cycle as advised. Our ideal candidate must be an early bird, adept at using technology to meet company objectives, manage vendor reconciliations, support other payable accountants, and carry out their duties effectively. They must also demonstrate a proven track record of managing payments at scale to deliver on key metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Billing: Manage the daily billing of goods received from warehouses in Lagos, MTOs, and Upcountry locations.
  • Payment Posting: Handle the posting of supplier payments, including both creditors and cash transactions, on Internet Banking and Odoo ERP.
  • Collateral Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile the Collateral Manager’s Net Load out to ensure accurate settlements.
  • Monthly Vendor Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations between Vendor Statements and TradeDepot’s statements, ensuring no discrepancies.
  • Rebate and Incentive Management: Prepare weekly Rebate and Incentive accruals.
  • Ledger Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations of Vendors and Inter-branch Ledgers.
  • Customer Refunds: Manage the processing of refunds to customers.
  • Purchase Order Coordination: Confirm weekly purchase order closeouts with the Procurement Team and reconcile all purchase orders and prepayments to suppliers.
  • Regularly reconcile Supplier’s ledgers, ensuring accuracy and addressing any discrepancies promptly.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the accounts payable process to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure all financial transactions adhere to company policies and applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Officer, preferably in the fast paced FMCG sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work under tight deadlines.
  • High degree of accuracy and integrity.
