“Playing in England is still an ambition for me,” Samuel Chukwueze

Following very incredible performances for the Yellow Submarine, Villarreal, the Nigeria international has been linked with several European clubs as a result.

Samuel Chukwueze, Villarreal winger has shown his burning desire to play in England after a failed move to Arsenal.

Scoring eight beautiful goals this season across all competitions, the 19-year-old has now blossomed into one of the most prolific wingers in the Spanish LaLiga.

Premier League clubs, Manchester City and Liverpool are reportedly tracking his growth according to the Daily Mail. He has also been linked also to Atletico Madrid.

The forward had an opportunity to join the Gunners, Arsenal’s academy before moving to Villarreal.

However, the young star has not given up on his dream to play in the English Premier League.

Chukwueze told Tribalfootball, “It was very close for me to sign for Arsenal, almost had the contract in my hands.

“Unfortunately, it did not work out fine with my academy due to the side of agreement and payment. They did not agree with the terms of the contract.

“I was very happy thinking of signing and dreaming of playing for Arsenal, but my academy did not allow it to happen. I kept on pushing and praying to get a club in Europe and it came with Villarreal.

“Playing in England is still an ambition for me. I need to keep on working hard and to keep improving. I really want to play in England.”

On the international scene, however, Chukwueze will also hope to join the Nigerian Super Eagles squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which would kick off on June 21 in Egypt.

Nigeria are in Group B alongside Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar.
