President Buhari has not cancelled appointments signed off by late Chief of Staff- Presidency

The Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has dismissed media reports that President Buhari has cancelled over 150 memos and appointments signed off by his former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, who died on April 17, after battling COVID-19

Reports were rife on Monday with claims that the President cancelled the appointments made by late Kyari after his new Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, resumed office. The reports claimed that the memos and appointments made by the late Kyari were done without the approval of the President, hence they were cancelled.

However, in a statement released this night, Garba described the report as ”Fake News”.

The statement reads “The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to media reports alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled a number of memos and appointments signed off by his former Chief of Staff. Not surprisingly, these reports have quoted unnamed sources. There is not a grain of truth in these reports and Nigerians should please ignore the insinuations behind them. President Buhari was duly re-elected by Nigerians in February 2019. He has not and will never cede to anyone else, that power and trust are given to him by the Nigerian people.
