RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to work independently and have an impartial assessment on the comprehensive report of progress of work of all contractors on the project.
  • Able to audit, identify and analyse the commercial risk of a project including mitigation related to refinery projects in particular and other projects generally.
  • Able to undertake technical and feasibility studies and site investigations.
  • Able to coordinate the processing of contractor’s monthly applications for payment, and verifying invoice submissions, check and verify contractor’s PMS – Progress Measurement System.
  • Able to prepare a cost estimate for different phases of the project, advice the project manager on possible cost overruns and on the action necessary to remain within the approved project budget
  • Able to perform and implement all post contract duties including but not limited to measurements, preparation of variations orders, analysis of site design changes, interim valuation certificates, final accounts, and evaluation reports.
  • Able to examine, control and evaluate sub-contractors invoices and ensure the contractual obligations are satisfied and advice the project management on payments of the same.
  • Understands and works within strict health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements and guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS/ATTAINMENTS:

  • B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying; M.sc is an added advantage
  • Professional Qualification i.e. MNIQS, RQS, PMP is an must

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience as a Quantity surveyor and EIGHT (8) years of it in a consulting firm is must
  • Ability to conduct studies of feasibility to estimate costs relating to materials, time and Labour.
  • Ability to prepare a financial statement in a format that conforms to international standard.
  • Ability to perform risk, value management and cost control.
  • Analyze outcomes and write detailed progress reports;
  • Ability to maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
  • Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES:

  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as MS Project, Primevaria AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar.
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Project management and supervision skills
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate the work at the job site as a project
