Sanwo-Olu counsels parents on proper children’s upbringing

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on residents to make the right political choice in the 2023 general elections.

He also called on families to inculcate proper upbringing in their children in order to stem the tide of violence in the country.

The governor made this call on Monday during his speech at the year 2022 Eid-ul-Adha celebration held at the Lagos House, Alausa Ikeja.

Sanwo-Olu was represented at the event by his deputy, Mr Obafemi Hamzat.

He said, “The state of the country calls for serious attention and I am glad that our cleric here today prayed for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is the presidential candidate. I want to urge us all to make the right choice in 2023; we must not make any mistake in this regard.

As parents, we need to bring up our children in the way of God because for someone to take up a weapon and start killing fellow humans, something has gone wrong with them and we can change this from our own families.

“We should restore the virtues of respect, dignity, and tolerance that shaped our upbringing and culture and not allow negative influences to mislead our youths.”

The wife of the governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, urged residents to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to embrace the virtues of love and unity.

“Lagos, under the purposeful and dynamic leadership of Mr Governor is growing in leaps and bounds and breaking great grounds due to the peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationships existing between the adherents of various faiths in the state. As we celebrate this spiritually rewarding season, more than before, this is the time to embrace genuine love, togetherness, and spiritual devotion,” she said.
