Scores escape as billboard destroys vehicles in Ojodu Berger, Lagos

Calamity was averted, yesterday, when a billboard hosting advertisements for Adron homes collapsed on vehicles parked at ‘garage’ at Ojodu Berger, Lagos.

A source said the billboard collapsed as a result of thunderstorm that followed yesterday morning rains.

According to the source, more than 20 vehicles, including tipper lorries were affected in the incident.

The source said it could have been worse if it happened in the morning when drivers and operators were in the busy park.

When The Guardian visited yesterday, a tipper driver, who gave his name as Mutiu, estimated the cost of damage at several millions of naira.

He said that no life was lost at the incident, but owners of the vehicles were already discussing compensation for the damages.

Thank God that no life was lost, mounting of all these billboards within a State should follow due safety procedures not monetary exchanging hands behind close doors
